What sets us apart.

In our view, furniture is not just objects that fulfill certain needs, but rather, every item we see and use in the spaces we spend our entire day in plays an important role in our lives, guiding our senses through its form, color, and comfort. At the same time, it is the most effective and fun way to reflect your personal design taste.

With this design philosophy, Borbo aims to offer a pleasurable lifestyle with an original furniture collection that is thought through to the finest detail, providing not only functionality but also an experience you will always enjoy having.

‘defining good design’

As designers, “good design” is the most important principle that we brainstorm extensively. Aesthetics, functionality, sustainability, and proper supply management are all equally important and individually considered in our design process. We evaluate each design through this filter and continue until we achieve the best result.

Beyond giving importance to details, we produce the detail itself. To us, what defines a design are the thoughtfully considered details, which differentiate the final product from others. In short, the detail is the product itself.

from sketch to prototype,

from prototype to final product

We always have new products and designs in the back of our minds, just waiting to be shaped. We create our own inspiration and first sketch out the products. We discuss and try to reflect our aesthetic understanding of design in the product as Borbo.

After the sketch phase, we move on to prototype testing using various technical programs to improve our design. We make prototype trials in various scales to make sure nothing escapes our attention.

When it’s time for the real-scale prototype trial, our excitement is renewed. We spend plenty of time in the workshop and proceed with caution at every step. We also examine the product at full scale and first experience it ourselves.

Our vision for original production

Our vision for original production at Borbo supports high-quality and sustainable manufacturing. When bringing our designs to life, we always consider environmental factors such as preserving natural resources, reducing waste, and saving energy.
Furthermore, we respect human labor and value the skills of local craftsmen in every production process. We take care to ensure that every material used in our products and every step in the production process is correct and fair.
Thus, we create unique designs from an aesthetic perspective while making a difference with sustainable production and fair business practices.

stimulate the senses

How can we trigger our design senses and what makes one space more attractive than another? Questions like these always linger in our minds, as for us, every design also offers an experience. A chair may fulfill simple needs like eating or working at its core. However, being an object that is enjoyed for its visual and tactile presence, going beyond its basic function, and being a positive stimulus to the senses, requires it to be thought of from this perspective as a design.

Of course, design perception is subjective. An object may have a clear character and convey multiple messages depending on the recipient. A favorite color chair, a natural wooden coffee table that creates a touch sensation, or a lighting that provides a tone you like. Each individual experiences designs in their own way and affects how they interpret colors, shapes, materials, and tactility around them.

These sensory experiences that objects provide form the impression of the space as a whole and affect how we feel in their presence.
The purpose of every product we design with our approach to making all of these experiences quality and unique is actually to ‘create a space that feels good.

long-lasting use

In addition to all of this, at the core of our design and production process lies an approach to “long-lasting use” that we have seen as a responsibility rather than a goal from the very beginning. Instead of the uniform, fragile, artificial, and “lifeless” furniture brought by the imposed culture of use and throw, our principle will always be to minimize our environmental footprint by offering well-designed, natural, and long-lasting furniture that you can use for many years to come.
